Field Worker Guide¶

You're the largest user group. In the 2025 survey, 41.2% of respondents were regulatory authorities — police, customs, labor inspectors, and similar roles. You need translation in the field, face-to-face, sometimes with no internet.

This guide covers mobile-first, real-time, and offline translation.

Quick Mobile Workflow¶

1. Open app or pauhu.ai in browser
2. Type, paste, or speak your text
3. Tap translate
4. Show screen to the person you're communicating with

Real-Time Speech Translation¶

26.2% of MT users translate face-to-face. Here's how:

For two-way communication:

2. Speak in your language
3. Pauhu speaks the translation aloud
4. Other person speaks in their language
5. Pauhu translates back to you

2. Open Pauhu conversation mode
3. Both sides translated in real-time

Offline Mode¶

No internet? No problem.

Pre-Download Models¶

Before going to the field:

1. Go to Settings → Offline Models
2. Download language pairs you need:
3. Finnish ↔ English (most common)
4. Finnish ↔ Russian (14.1% of use)
5. Finnish ↔ Arabic (7.1% of use)
6. Finnish ↔ Ukrainian (9.0% of use)
7. Models stored locally on device

Offline Workflow¶

Same as online — your device does all processing:

No data transmitted. Perfect for:
